Global Internet Summit Penang Update: Day 2 - eBay and Hunger Pangs
Hi All,
I’m back with the second installment to the Global Internet Summit at the Evergreen Laurel Hotel in Penang. It is April 11, 2009 Saturday.
Today I woke up to the alarm of my cellphone telling me its a good day to listen once more to the sonorous tones of internet marketing experts showing what they know and good-naturedly taking potshots at each others’ income generation systems.
Social Media Maestro, Benjamin Teo
Day 2 was a somewhat light day as There were only two speakers today with opening by Andy Hun: Benjamin Marc Wee and Terence Tan.
The Price of Doing Business In Online Marketing
The Price of Doing Business in Internet Marketing
Yes, the prices for these programs do not come cheap.
The average price for every program I’ve been hearing so far comes to about RM 3,000. That’s a cool sum of cash to pay for a course so naturally people are a little bit concerned.
Personally, I’m a fan of results. Let the best results speak for themselves. If an internet marketer says he can propel you to money madness with a 80%+ chance of success, then by all means he can price his courses accordingly.
And sir, make sure you give proper financing please, if you wish to maximize your profitability.
Yes, the price of entry in doing business in internet marketing comes with a somewhat high price tag, but I’d like to contrast that the PRICE OF IGNORANCE will cost you a few time higher than you’d anticipate and leave you bloody, muddy, and confused.
Today’s Program
Online Internet Consultant, Andy Hun
Opening the seminar today was Andy Hun who walked us through on the basics of creating an online payment account like Paypal.
Second to present was Terence Tan of SkyQuestCom.
I’ve heard of SkyQuestCom and with the really long presentation shown by Terence, with social proof that he trotted out on powerpoint by the hundreds (exagerration - it felt that way because he made us sit through it even at an hour past lunchtime), it seems to be a good investment for people looking for self development for themselves.
But during that time, I wouldn’t really care less because I WAS REALLY HUNGRY!
The system itself is chockful of educational courses at the fraction of the cost of attending a live seminar. You’ll find in their library the lectures of a lot of the famous motivators of all time: Tony Robbins, Robert Kiyosaki, Brian Tracy, T Harv Eker, Dr John Gray, Blair Singer, Bill Clinton, etc.
With SkyQuestCom, you can have them at a fraction of the cost of flying to the US, booking a hotel and paying Tony’s high talent fees.
eBay Millionaire, Benjamin Marc Wee
Third to present with a enigmatic Benjamin Marc Wee who prefers to be called an online retailer. Looking and sounding like a buddha with not a care in the world, underneathe that cool exterior lies a cool business computer like no other.
Among all the speakers present, he lays claim to the highest and richest monetary rewards of any of the presenters. If you are wondering what an old shrewd, laid-back Chinese businessman that found doing business on eBay to be most profitable looks like, its Benjamin Wee.
He made his fortune selling stuff people want on eBay. And he does it the old-fashioned Chinese way. He did it with his head. Buy low and sell dearly.
I am personally impressed by this man. I hope one day I can pick his brains.
Q&A
L-R: Terence Tan, Benjamin Teo, Jaz Lai, Vince Tan, Alok Jain, Edmund Loh
The last gathering was a Q&A session with the internet marketing experts.
Facilitator was Andy Hun who helped field questions from the audience.
As predicted, foremost on the minds of the audience was:
- Will it REALLY work for me?
- Can you please lower the sticker price?
- Silence…
Honestly, I don’t think people know what questions to ask specifically.
It’s really a matter of what one knows about the subject. One wouldn’t ask a good question unless he knows what the subject is. And in this instance, people are are reeling from sticker shock and information overload.
Last Day Tomorrow!
We’re on the final stretch. Only two more experts to present themselves: Benjamin Teo and Vince Tan. Looking forward to these presentations!
One thing of note: Ewen Chia is nowhere to be found. He had top billing and still no show…Wonder what happened here.
I haven’t taken the time to ask the staff of Success Resources what happened as I was occupied in giving some of my classmates advice on internet marketing.
Tomorrow then, we shall find out!
Regards,
Erwin Chua
